BOTH Saatchi Art Best of Year AND Pantone Color of the Year Collections!

What a great way to start 2020!

Having sold hundreds of abstract expressionist paintings – which can be found in private collections all over the world on 5 continents and 25 plus countries – I can tell you that I am honored knowing that my art resonates with such a variety of people. I have sold works directly to young professionals who are just starting their collections and told me that they are “finally ready for some art.” I have had seasoned collectors contact me directly as well to inquire about my work. I recall one Japanese college student who purchase a work for her room. I have done the artwork for entire homes (I will have a posting on that shortly) with 15 commissioned works! I have done huge commissions for lofts and Hollywood hills homes…this is just a tiny fraction of the varied collectors Lee and I have worked with.

This however is a new first for me – Saatchi Art’s Best Of The Year for 2019. This collection was curated by Saatchi Art Assistant curator Aurora Garrison. Thank you very much Aurora for adding my work to this collection. This is a very important collection as there are literally hundreds of thousands of works on the Saatchi Art website and just 109 works included so I am in fine company.

The very same week one of my works was selected by Saatchi Art Assistant curator Megan Wright to be included in the Saatchi Art’s collection of artworks using the color to illustrating the new Pantone color of the year which is Classic Blue. Thank you very much Megan, it is an honor to be included the collection of just 90 works!

Dinner with Jonas Almgren CEO of Artfinder.com in Los Angeles

I was fortunate to be invited to attend a meeting of artists in Los Angeles held by Jonas Almgren, the CEO of ArtFinder.com the fastest growing online art retailer and gallery in the world! It is an amazing gallery that I have been with for over 2 years now and could not be happier to have been invited by CEO Jonas Almgren. Ideas were discussed and it was so refreshing to have a gallery actually ask artists what they can do for us to help us sell our art!

Artfinder is a breath of fresh air in the all too often elitist, stale, and frankly boring art sales scene. They are truly the future of selling fine art and after spending the evening with Jonas and hearing him speak with such passion and honesty I am more confident than ever about the future of selling my work online and especially excited be a part of the artfinder family!

Sold Commissioned Work

I am fortunate to have been found by a couple who collect art. They have purchased several of my works for their amazing homes and recently contacted me needing a work to fill a certain space and had a color palette they wanted. We checked the works that I had already completed for the size and color and came up with a few…one of which they tried out in the space but ultimately decided that it was not quite right so what to do? Commission one that is exactly the right size and with the color palette they were looking for!

I have to admit that it was a challenge…I am after all used to paintings with no pre-planned outcome in mind and just let the paint and canvas evolve as I work with them. Also being given a palette to work with was different of course, so it did take some time. I was overthinking the project. I was trying to visualize an outcome since I was creating a work for a specific person and for a specific space. It took me awhile to started but once I decided that I just needed to approach the canvas as I usually do then I came up with several works using the need canvas size and the client’s color palette. Here is the work that the client ultimately bought. They are happy so I am happy!
