Interesting Fact – Stendhal Syndrome
Stendhal syndrome, Stendhal’s syndrome, hyperkulturemia, or Florence syndrome is a psychosomatic disorder that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, confusion and even hallucinations when an individual is exposed to an experience of great personal significance, particularly viewing art.[1]
I found this while doing some research and thought it was very interesting. I am moved by art and I know that most people are but this is a very extreme reaction to viewing artworks. This is a phenomenon in which the view has such an extreme reaction that they need medical attention in some cases. This was first discovered and documented in Florence Italy. I found it fascinating and thought I would share it with you.
