Biography

American artist Nestor Toro (b. 1976, Mayagüez, Puerto Rico) is an abstract painter based in West Hollywood, California. His work is held in private collections on five continents and in more than 30 countries, including the United States, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Australia, Canada, Argentina, Singapore, Ireland, and Belgium.

Raised in Puerto Rico, Toro developed an early interest in art through visits to the Museo de Arte de Ponce. Extensive travel and periods of residence in Miami, Rio de Janeiro, and Buenos Aires (2006–2012) shaped his approach to color, movement, and layered composition. He works primarily in fluid acrylics and mixed media, building each painting through successive layers without a predetermined outcome.

Toro is self-taught, with additional studio study at UCLA and Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and in studios in Buenos Aires.
