Measuring 48 x 60 x 1.5 inches, this enchanting work is a continuation of Toro’s exploration of cosmic beauty, rendered through his signature abstract expressionist style. The painting’s ethereal quality and rhythmic composition evoke the atmospheric serenity of Mark Rothko’s glowing color fields and the delicate, gestural abstractions of Cy Twombly, yet Toro infuses it with his own intuitive flair, creating a piece that feels both otherworldly and deeply emotive. This is a must-have for any collector seeking a work that transcends the ordinary and invites contemplation.

The palette of Celeste Spectra (Amethysts Reflections) 2 is a mesmerizing blend of celestial and gemstone hues, capturing the reflective beauty of amethysts against a cosmic backdrop. Dominating the canvas are rich, jewel-like purples—deep amethyst and soft lavender tones that shimmer with a glossy intensity, evoking the crystalline depths of the gemstone. These purples are layered over a foundation of cool blues, ranging from deep sapphire to vibrant turquoise, which ripple across the canvas like a starry night sky or a tranquil ocean under moonlight. Iridescent silvers and whites cascade through the composition in delicate, vertical drips, creating a sense of movement and sparkle, as if capturing the reflection of starlight or the shimmer of a cosmic veil. Subtle accents of emerald green and hints of coral peek through, adding a touch of earthy warmth and vibrancy, while the interplay of dark navy and black in the background adds depth and mystery, grounding the ethereal colors in a sense of infinite space. The glossy finish enhances the luminosity of the colors, making them glow with a radiant, reflective quality that shifts with the light.

Toro’s technique—spontaneous, textured, and layered—brings the painting to life with a sense of fluidity and motion, as if the canvas captures a moment of cosmic reflection. The vertical drips and splatters create a rhythmic pattern, reminiscent of a meteor shower or a cascade of light, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in its celestial dance. At 48 x 60 inches, Celeste Spectra (Amethysts Reflections) 2 is perfectly sized to make a statement, whether displayed in a modern living space, a serene meditation room, or a curated gallery setting.
