The color palette of Waiting For The Storm 2 is a vibrant array of hues, evoking the charged atmosphere before a storm. Each canvas features a deep, twilight blue as its foundation, creating a cohesive backdrop that feels like a stormy sky on the horizon. Over this, Toro layers a dense array of vertical strokes in a spectrum of vivid tones—electric blues, bright greens, and golden yellows cascade down the canvases like charged winds, their vibrancy capturing the essence of a storm’s impending energy. Accents of fiery red and soft white weave through the composition, adding a sense of depth and contrast that feels both intense and dynamic, as if lightning is about to strike. Small splashes of black and pale cyan dot the surface, resembling raindrops or flashes of light, enhancing the painting’s stormy, anticipatory quality. The colors seem to pulse with energy across the three panels, creating a rhythmic flow that feels alive and interconnected, drawing the viewer into the tension of waiting for the storm.

Toro’s technique is textured and spontaneous, with layered, dripping strokes that add a tactile quality, inviting closer inspection. The vertical marks evoke a sense of movement and tension, as if the storm is brewing across the triptych.
