Los Angeles abstract artist Nestor Toro working on a new Fine Art Abstract painting in his Los Angeles studio space.

I do a lot of commission works and for very good reasons. When you get a commission you are having me create a work of art that is specifically made for you. You need a special size? I can do it. Have you found one of my works you just love BUT it’s the wrong size? I can create one for you similar and with the exact dimensions that you request for your needs.

Nestor Toro – Artist

Lately I have been selling a lot of unstretched canvases which means that the canvas is not on a wooden framework called stretcher bars. There are actually a couple of benefits to shipping a canvas that is unstretched. The first is that it easier to ship rolled in a tube rather than a large flat box and in this case it was going to Great Britain so it was much easier to roll in a tube and ship it off. It is much less likely to be damaged and not everyone understands that if the frame breaks it could puncture the canvas and severely damage the artwork. The wooden framework can be replaced easily but the actual work not so much! So that is a great reason right there!

The other reason is that often collectors will want to have a work framed and often the framer will stretch it as part of the overall pricing of framing. Any of these reasons are good but the rolled canvas was best in this case simply because of the distance of international shipping. The box might be opened at customs and the work damaged or not repacked properly resulting in damage as the journey to the collector continues!

So this work is now being enjoyed in London and I could not be happier!

The sunset reflecting off the Pacific here in Los Angeles watching off the Santa Monica pier as the water moves and the sunsets gold tones dance over its surface. That was the inspiration for this special typictic. The painting gives you a different look from different angles so you are sure never to see it the same way twice!

This typictic is made up of 3 panels each measuring 16″ x 20″ making a total 48″ x 16″ so the effect is a very horizontal perspective perfect for an area such as behind a couch or a well lit hallway!

I am very happy to post that a collector in Massachusetts has purchased my work entitled Rising Fantasy (Gardens). This has been quite a popular painting for me. I have had prints of this work sold. I have done a commission based on the work. You can see that here. The work is 60″ x 40″ and is one of my favorite which up until now has been hanging in my livingroom! Thank you very much, you now have the original work to enjoy – Nestor Toro – Los Angeles

This piece is about embracing color and movement. Lots of texture over gesso layered canvas using fluid translucent acrylics and iridescent mediums to make all the color blend together. Most of the colors are the result of color blending using acrylic mediums such as Golden clear tar gel and iridescent Sennelier paint. This oversized canvas is truly a statement piece. I had a great time working on this painting!!!
